Make Sure You Are For You

You won’t be for everyone. This is a lesson I learn over and over again. Because the truth of it is that we all want to belong, we all want to be seen for our gifts and to be seen with our struggles, with our grief and our mistakes and then in the face of that…loved. loved and not left. People have left my life and given me the reasons and people have left my life and given me nothing but the memory of the space they used to take up. Both versions hurt and recently I’ve been digging towards discovery on this. In my own quietness I’ve been asking the hard questions. What am I clinging to? What expectation did I put here and what am I trying to control? What part of me am I rejecting, scolding and shaming? The answers are still coming as I know they will in their own time.

I’ve found my breath in remembering again that I won’t be for everyone and don’t need to know the why. At the end of my life peace won’t be found within how I changed or molded to fit within a seemingly false cocoon of acceptance. Peace will be found by having had a life of really living and expressing what is only mine to do so. We all want to belong, we all want to be seen. But it starts with the very heart beating in your chest.

You won’t be for everyone.

Make sure you are for you.

Loved and not left.

Make sure you are for you.

Seen and not scolded.

Make sure you are for you.

Radically worthy.

Make sure you are for you.

You won’t be for everyone.

But you deserve to be for you.
